Aims & Objectives
The primary aim of the association is to inculcate the spirit of adventure among the youth. We believe that propagating adventure and allied activities at the grass root level (children ), and exposing them to its thrills would bring them closer to nature.
Outbound group activities and nature awareness have an inherent advantage in as much as they help in moulding a child’s character. A good adventurer automatically becomes a good human being, and a good human being becomes a good citizen. It is such citizens we would like to churn out. We have been successful in kindling the spirit of adventure among thousands of youngsters over the past four decades. We aim to continue this process. Towards this end the association also strives to keep the programme budget modest so that all sections of society partake in them.
Outdoors present the best arena for the individual to assess his / her own capabilities and limitations. In recent times the association has also diversified into organizing programmes exclusively for the professionals, schools, colleges, corporates etc. This has become a necessity; for stress, driven by cutthroat competition, space and time constraints etc. has become a part of day to day life.
Outdoors is a good stress buster. The revolution in the field of advertising and broadcasting, technological advancements and the need to excel has overburdened and pushed the children to their limits. Today’s children crave for outdoor entertainment, games etc. The association has been and will, in its own small and humble way try to expose youngsters to the outdoors and adventure sports, inculcate the spirit of adventure , encourage the more talented among them to reach greater heights, teach the virtues of team work , channelise youth power into more meaningful endeavors, wean away youngsters form the addiction of the box, educate them of the evils of deforestation and quarrying, imbibe the attitude of give and take and encourage learning through observation, curiosity and creativity. For the serious pursuers, adventure becomes a healthy addiction once rapport with nature is established.
The association has seen several of its members realize the dream of interaction with nature amidst high adventure. We aim to continue doing so for all years to come..

Growth over the years
Registered in the year 1966, the association has now completed 52 years of glorious and adventurous existence. From humble beginnings with a few ropes borrowed from the Fire Department, the association today has built up a sizeable store and membership base. This is a stupendous achievement for a voluntary body, made possible by a steady stream of members and dedicated volunteers.
The association has scores of members who have successfully completed Basic, Advance and MOI Mountaineering courses conducted by the various Mountaineering Institutes. Some have completed skiing, skydiving, para-sailing and para-gliding courses as well. Many trained members have served as guest instructors for courses conducted by the Mountaineering Institutes at Darjeeling, Uttarkashi and Manali. Senior members have accompanied foreign expedition teams as liaison officers and a few have been conferred with the State and Dasara awards given by the Government of Karnataka (One Rajyotsava and Seven Dasara).
The rock belts of Karnataka have found mention in international adventure journals. In recent years a host of climbers from Italy, Britain, France, etc have visited these rock belts. The association has helped them on their trips. Over the years the association grew from strength to strength and its activities spread to such an extent that many adventure clubs sprouted and are functioning today.
Today, we have the expertise to organise full scale Himalayan Ventures. Till Date, the association has successfully organised more than 140 expeditions in the Himalayas apart from innumerable programmes in the rock belts and rain forests in and around Karnataka. Though the association had members who were keen in their desire and confident of their capabilities, it had to undergo a lot of hardship and hurdles in its nascent years. The association owes its eminence to the support given over the years by well known personalities like Late K. A. Nettakallappa (1966-70), Brig.V.P.Naib (1970-74) and Late Mr.Kondajji Basappa (1974- 1982). Mr.T. S.Krishna Murthy (1983-84), Late Mr.M.Bhaktavatsala (1984 – 2014). Mr.Sudhir Kumar Mehta is President since. With the unstinted co-operation of the members and successive Secretaries, viz., Mrs.Usha Ramaiah, Mr.D.S.B.Naidu, Mr.Sudhir Kumar Mehta, Mr.Radhakrishna, Mr.Dinesh Baliga, Mr.K.R.Lavaraju, Late Mr.B.G.Naganath, Mr.Keshavdas, Late Mr.K.V.Mohan, Dr. B. K. Chakrapani and presently Mr. S. Srivatsa , the Association has grown in leaps and bounds to its present premier position in the state.
During the year 2000, the association put up a shibir aptly named as the Tenzing Norgay Shibir at the Sahasotsava (adventure carnival) jointly organised by the National Geographic Channel and the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation, in the Palace Grounds, Bangalore and was adjudged the MOST ECO FRIENDLY SHIBIR. The NGC presented the association with a survival kit as a momento.
